Lesbian Queer Sapphic Superheroes’ Healing Trauma Psycho-Educational Support Group
What superpowers get you through it all?
For lesbian, queer, and sapphic adults who have endured sexual, psychological, physical, emotional neglect, and/or political or oppression trauma at any time in their life, are currently or recently in regular individual therapy, coaching, or a related healing modality, and hold a socially conscious and progressive framework.
This support group uses a strengths-based, skill-building, and glitter-filled format, incorporates a healing justice and trauma-informed lens, is neurospicy-aware, is body- and sex-positive, and is guaranteed to evoke laughter, tears, and kindness.
Topics: What are your queer superhero powers? Trauma healing goals, personal strengths, assessing your resilience, identifying and managing triggers, emotional regulation skills, self-care, soothing strategies, building self-confidence, identifying your PTSD symptoms and healthy and unhealthy coping strategies, reducing shame and blame, and building empowerment and assertiveness skills. The group also discusses, through a queer lens, the current social-political increase of oppression and fascism, and its similarities to each person’s abuse experiences and triggers.

Topics & Format
The group follows a curriculum that includes the following healing-related topics, with prompt discussion questions and assessments:
- Share space, time, care, and stories with like-minded humans.
- Identify your superhero name and your superpowers, and share how these superpowers helped and continue to help you get through your challenging past and recent trauma and current stressful times.
- Through a queer lens, explore how the current social-political collective trauma stress, and its increased oppression and fascism in our communities, parallels and triggers your personal past traumas.
- Assess your burnout and trauma grief as it relates to the collective and personal resistance to fascism, the fallout of the federal occupation, and your own trauma.
- Assess your resiliency, and learn the Nine Components of Resiliency and how to utilize them in your everyday life.
- Assess, identify, and understand your PTSD symptoms and learn concrete tools to identify and manage your triggers.
- Learn re-grounding skills that fit your style.
- Address codependency, develop healthier boundaries, and coping strategies.
- Learn the Eight Types of Self-care that promote wellness, and identify which ones you are good at and the ones you want to improve.
- Increase your capacity to see glimmers, manifest joy, feel gratitude, and center yourself and your self-care.
- Reduce perfectionism and shame, and increase self-compassion.
- Increase your conflict resolution skills.
- Celebrate queer joy together.
Each participant will receive a group packet, which includes concrete tools and assessments, optional homework, writing prompts, and resources. Group members may identify and work on a healing goal throughout the group’s 12 meetings.
